Feelers Need to Be Felt Too

Feelers Need to Be Felt Too

Nothing hurts a sensitive person more than hearing the words:

“You hurt me.”

Pain is already deeply carved in the heart of a sensitive soul.

Because no one feels everything quite as deeply.

Nothing passes through them untouched.

Their bodies experience the world differently.

Sounds are louder.

Smells are more intense.

An image can sting their eyes.

They cannot witness someone else’s suffering without feeling it in their own bones.

They can’t be passive, because what others feel becomes their feeling too.

It’s not a choice.

It’s the way they’re wired.

They were born like this.

That’s why they suffer more.

That’s why they often get sick.

That’s why they rely on strong coping mechanisms,

because they’ve had to fight harder than others for their emotional survival.

They dissociated more, just to avoid drowning in the intensity of their feelings.

Not just their own emotions,

they absorb everyone else’s too.

It’s not their fault.

But it’s also not their responsibility to carry everyone’s pain.

And yet…

they don’t always know how not to.

That’s why they may develop codependency.

Because if they can soothe others, maybe they won’t feel the pressure of those intense emotions.

Sensitive ones are the carers.

The givers.

The nurturing, responsible ones.

The helpers.

The sacrificial ones.

The burned-out ones.

The vibrant ones.

They are the ones who feel energy, shift energy, and bring healing into a room,

with their presence, their care, their kindness.

They are needed by everyone.

But often lost in their own feelings.

Overwhelmed by the very thing that is their superpower.

Forgetting that they are just human.

Not superheroes.

So next time you receive help, care, attention from a sensitive soul,

don’t forget that it’s a gift.

A precious one.

Honor their presence. Don’t just take.

Stop. Acknowledge them.

Even if you have no words,

just pause and breathe a quiet thank you in their direction.

They will feel it.

And it will mean the world to them.

Because feelers need to be felt too.

I see you.

I honor you.

You, sensitive ones, are the greatest gift in someone’s life.

With love,🤍
