We need touch more than we realize.
Not just sexual intimacy.
Not performance.
Not pressure.
But presence.
The kind of touch that says:
“I see you.”
“I’m here.”
“You’re safe now.”
Touch has the power to heal the nervous system.
To soften the body.
To quiet the mind.
To tell the heart: You are no longer alone.
So many of us grew up starved for this kind of tenderness.
We learned to associate touch only with demand, control, or sexuality.
We didn’t know there could be a different kind:
Touch that’s gentle.
Present.
Sacred.
Safe.
A hand on your back when you’re grieving.
Fingers entwined when you’re afraid.
A long hug that lets your body melt into belonging.
This is the kind of touch we all deserve.
The kind that reminds your system that it’s okay to let go.
That it’s okay to be held.
We are wired for connection.
We’re meant to give and receive nurturing touch.
It’s medicine for the heart.
It’s nourishment for the soul.
It’s a way the body remembers what love feels like.
When was the last time you received touch that felt truly safe?
What kind of touch do you most long for?
May you be touched with gentleness,
not urgency.
May your body be held in ways that say,
“You are safe here.”
May your heart soften under hands
that carry no demand.
May you remember the language of tenderness
the kind of love that doesn’t rush.
The kind that lingers.
Listens.
Honors.
May you offer this to yourself first.
And may you be met by those
who know how to hold you
with presence,
with reverence,
with care.
